Why is hip hop so offensive these days?

All these artists do is rap about cars, money and women. Do they even realize that there are kids in Africa who are starving to death, digging to find gold and diamonds just to have food, while these artists have then on their teeth?! That's just crazy. And don't get me started on the excessive cursing.

Hip hop was not like this back in the day. Rappers like Common, Kalib, Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco rap mostly about where they're from, who they appriciate and bring good beat. I wish hip hop didn't talk about so much violence and gangs, banging chicks and biitches, or having grills. What do you think?

Why is hip hop so offensive these days?
I totally agree with u. But they have to do this in order to keep sales up- and that's what ppl are digging now in days. Some rap artists don't rap about cars money diamonds or women- like Common. From his hit video "Go!" yes, it showed some women, but he himself proclaimed he's showing the body art and the beautiful women that are in this world. Not some woman in a bikini shaking her asss at the camera. But ur totally rite. I listen to ROCK!!!!!! lol.
Reply:That's what sells nowadays.
Reply:I think most mainstream music has gone to hell in a handbasket nowadays.
Reply:sorry me lass!! i only listen to me good ole irish music!!
Reply:not all of the artists sing about that....
Reply:Yeah. I only like the sound of today's rap, not what it promotes. What it promotes is DISGUSTING and degrading.
Reply:it's offensive coz it's crap and not proper music. it hurts my ears
Reply:i agree. Its getting revolting. i used ti listen to rap and evrything but not since it turned sexist and "sometimes" not all the time racist. It telling young children that its ok to cuss and to tlk about sex and drugs. I think that some words should be taken out for it to be better for a family to listen too.

ps. im not meaning to offend anyone. i swear.
Reply:That is a good questio. There is currently a stand being made against this typs ofmusic and it is going to take probably just as long as it took to make this cRAP popular. No self respecting woman should be dancing around to music that refers to her as a bi..tch ho..e ot any other such offensive terms...No one should be buying this cRAP because of your reasons and a thousand others...it breeds violence and EXTREME ignorance!!
Reply:Hip hop is offensive because if they don't rap about that- nothing will sell. People are now addicted to the explicit content! Some don't even know it's wrong. Also - it's a popularity thing- if you are young and listen to oldies- well- you are not cool...... !
Reply:This is another example of the decline of American society. I blame the recording industry for profiting from this trash and the consumers for supporting it. MTV use to be a wonderful channel for new and creative video from emerging musicians. Not the case anymore, it's an avenue for the exploitation of women, violence and greed.
Reply:I know exactly what you talkin about, thats why all I listen to is R%26amp;B and some rap thats from Kanye West and people who doesn't rap about women, money, and sex
Reply:I think if you are so against it dont listen to it...choose another type of music to listen to. I like it... but i like it all...I like a lot of the beats!
