Can anyone tell me how they think the slang word "grill" (as in a grill that goes on your teeth) came to be?

Probably because it looks like you've put the front of a car (the grill) in your mouth. It's a ridiculous fad. I don't get it.

The 'grill' on your teeth refers to braces. It is in reference to the grills of older automobiles, which were large and shiny - unlike most of today's braces.
